Catcher In The Rye is definitely a great book. As for kissing someone the eyes, well obviously, the eyes have to shut. Maybe it's just a symbolism for kissing someone's soul since your eyes are gate to your soul or something. No need to worry too much, just stick to lips, ears, and neck. You'll be fine...
